*Awoke from deep slumber* *Yawn* ...great to be back.
Heya! It's been quite some time since my last upload on dA, hasn't it? Nope, I wasn't being lazy or any of that sort (maaybee). I was busy spending the last 2 months focusing my time on my final semester, so I didn't really have the chance to start a new piece. Anyhow, last week was my final papers, which means I now finally have the time to get back to painting. It's going to take some time for me to get use to it again though...
Starting commissions soon. Check the front page for updates (Wow Aeron, is that all you have to say to your awesome watchers after being gone for this long? Bad Aeron...) --- Colour references: Sorrow for Whales by Rhads: [link] Endless Journey by Rhads: [link] Clouds - Practice by Nurkhular: [link]
Nothing says harmony like warm and cool colours combined. I think I might stick to this colour references for sometimes, maybe as a study, if you will.
Ah, I'm so happy I can find these BEAUTIFUL art in DeviantArt. I love this work, the clouds are amazing and Derpy is cute and beautiful at the same time. I absolutely love it! You will have my favorite. This is absolutely wonderful! The birds,Derpy's wings...Her eyes shine and sparkle...I really like her mane! (LOL) Just so you know, I really really REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY like it! It's so absolutely absolutely W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L!!!!!! Yey! The lighting is perfect an know what? Derpy is my second favorite character right now. Vinyl Scratch is best. But still this is loovelyyyy! from ~ Mushies12
I think that you have accomplished a wonderful feat here. I know I'm not much of an artist, and that this is my first critique, but I feel that this work is by far one of the best I have seen. The technicality of the clouds, the wake left behind from an unknown source (perhaps another pegasus passing through at high velocity and zooming past Derpy, I'm not sure) is pretty spot on. I also like the lighting effect behind derpy. Not only does it accent her hair's color, but it shows that there are sometimes breaks in the clouds where the sunlight passes through and, due to the implied high elevation, allows for the said effect easily. The background, like where the little birds are, shows that it is, in fact, still during the day. I personally think the brush style is unique and should be used by artists who know how to use it, much like AeronJVL has done. The perspective (and slight chiaroscuro touch with the central tube versus the surrounding clouds) is refreshing and wonderfully accomplished. Attention to detail has obviously been taken into consideration and pulled off well. Congratulations on a job well done.
